Weston Amaro – Front Ensemble Caption Head and Designer

Weston Amaro has been a Southern California based designer, composer, and educator for numerous marching bands and indoor percussion ensembles since 2005. In that time he has written and taught at every competitive level available, from junior high to independent world, and from concert to marching, in addition to wind arranging for marching band. To date, his music has been performed by over 100 ensembles across the country.

Weston went to Rancho Cucamonga High School where he was fortunate enough to discover his love for music and percussion while under the direction of Caleb Rothe, earning his first WGI medal while in the ensemble in 2004. Following high school, he performed with Pulse Percussion from 2006 to 2007 and in 2008 he returned to his alma mater at Rancho Cucamonga High School assuming the role as front ensemble caption head and designer where he remained from 2008-2017.

In 2010, Weston started the competitive world class concert program at Rowland High School to compete alongside the world class marching ensemble. For over a decade now, it has been one of only a few ensembles nationally to compete with and maintain two world class ensembles simultaneously.

Looking for ways to give back to the community, in 2016 Weston worked with the Southern California Percussion Alliance to start the SCPA Composition Scholarship in an attempt to foster artistry in the community and give students an additional creative outlet and path in the marching arts to express themselves aside from performing. Weston still manages the program and to date it has awarded tens of thousands of dollars toward the further education and performance opportunities for its recipients.

Currently, Weston is the caption head and designer for Rowland High School, Upland High School, South Hills High School, and Diamond Bar High School, and is proudly endorsed by Vic Firth sticks and mallets, Zildjian cymbals, and Remo drumheads.

Weston resides in Upland, CA with his wife Kelle, son Elliott, and daughter Evelyn.
